Master Diget

Master Edward Digét (Eddy) is the Vice Principal of our Institute. He has 46 years training and studying Chinese Martial Arts having trained in Shanghai, Ching Wing Tao, Tsing Tao, Hong Kong and Kowloon. His four main Chinese Styles are Wing Chun, Dragon, Mantis - Northern and White Crane. Eddy entered professional 'Underground' Shoot Fighting Competitions' - no insurance or protection worn, no rules, other than no contact to eyes or groin 5 x 3 minute rounds. For 4.5 years he trained Special Branch Police at all levels and was closed down by a Councilor who said what he taught was too dangerous to be used in the apprehension of Criminals!

Eddy has created his unique style of Chinese Martial Arts called "Sansao" - putting together his experience and various styles focussing on the application in street surroundings.

In 2003 he was invited to train some of the USA S.W.A.T. teams in close combat. The success of this trip resulted in being refered to the USA's World Organiser of Martial Arts - Department of Martial Arts Affairs and given a Certificate of International recognition as a 'Kung-Fu Master Instructor' for the USA Special Civil Forces.

Shortly after his return to the UK he was sent by the International Council of Masters and Grandmasters ( World Head Council of Japan, S.O.K.E.), another Certification due to the association with the USA, WOMA Organisation, that he had become listed as Certificated International Rank Recognition as a Master Instructor.

In 1993 Eddy was approached by Oxford Brookes University to be their 'retained' Chief Martial Arts Coach and Instructor and teach 'Students' and community users Chinese Martial Arts.

His School, the School Of Martial Arts was Founded - SOMA and developed to represent the Oxford Students Union, Chinese College for Academia, St. Aldgates College for Ladies.

Over 12 years SOMA had over 2600 students of different nationalities, from many parts of the world, including a Beijing Gold Medal (2004) Wu Shu Champion, and 35 different Black Belts from 5th Dans in Tae Kwon Do, Nin-Jitsu, Aikido, Wing Chun, etc., etc and many 'students' who were completely devoid of any of martial arts experience.

In May 2004 the 35th Generation of Shaolin Warrior Monk Shi Heng Xuan awarded Eddy the rank of 'Master' giving him the traditional Wooden Beads that are recognised by the Shaolin and Internationally as a recognised Chinese Martial Arts Teacher.
